I’ve noticed a trend on this blog — I really like a “regrouping” post.
It’s a healthy habit, no? Taking stock after a bit of chaos, figuring out what to do next. Kind of like finally tidying up after exam week (surely I can’t be the only one who looked forward to this just as much as the celebratory cocktails…surely?).
ANYWAY, HERE I AM AGAIN. REGROUPING.
We’ve had quite a ride lately in our little family, and I’ve been away from this little corner of the internet for a long time. Since I last posted, we followed our first pandemic summer with a year of full-on homeschooling, followed by a long-anticipated international move, followed by settling into a new home and new neighbourhood in our old country, which somehow managed to feel happily familiar and completely different all at once.
There were some loooong days in those short years.
Same for you, I bet.
We’ve all learned and grown so much, and I have so much more to say than ever before. I’ve been making lots of plans and I’m so excited about how it all looks.
Best of all, even with all of the learning and growing and idea-ing, all that I have to say and share still fits with my original intention for this blog: celebrating and exploring the big impact that the little things make on our lives.
ORDINARY INFLUENCE.
When I think about what I have to say now, some themes emerge…
- How to keep everyone in the family feeling good and healthy – in body, mind and spirit – and how this can be done with satisfying little habits, not hard sacrifices.
- How vitally important it is for you (and me) as parents to be full people, whatever that means to each of us (work, hobbies, health, relationships, whatever), and how to make it happen even if you’re in the habit of neglecting yourself.
- AND how truly valuing all that we do as parents is how we get to be our whole selves without sacrificing the wellbeing of our children. The key is to reconsider some of our everyday thoughts, habits and approaches that we take as givens… but maybe shouldn’t.
I don’t have it all figured out, but I think there’s real value in, thoughtfully, thinking out loud as we go along. For now, I’ve got ideas to share and resources to offer and I can’t wait to hear what you think of them.
I have a lot to say and I hope you do too.
See you soon.
